Milosevic to Moscow?

Milosevic’s release for medical treatment clearly demonstrates to the world The Hague Tribunal is nothing more than a kangaroo court; while the Croatian government is its kangaroo offspring.

According to recent news reports, Milosevic is packing his bags and on his way to Moscow for “medical treatment.” His trip has been discussed by Chief Prosecutor, Carla Del Ponte and the United Nations ICTY court in The Hague. The Croatian Worldwide Association (CWA) asks the international community and world leaders, “Are there not any competent doctors and medical institutions located in Scheveningen?” Apparently, the Dutch lack in providing adequate medical care to its citizens and visitors.

While Milosevic, or better known as the “Butcher of the Balkans” is leaving the Hague prison, Croatian General Ante Gotovina, the man who defeated Milosevic, Karadzic and Mladic both in Croatia and in Bosnia-Herzegovina is sitting awaiting trial.

General Gotovina applied western military doctrine with the assistance of the United States, saved hundreds of thousands of lives and displayed top-notch professionalism throughout his military service.  General Gotovina did nothing more than defend his country, while Milosevic ordered ethnic-cleansing on innocent civilians. Now more than ever, General Gotovina is left without any chance of a fair trial. The likelihood for true justice has been slowly and steadily deteriorating. With Milosevic gone and probably not ever coming back, how can General Gotovina successfully defend his bogus indictment which is in complete contradiction with that of Milosevic, or Karadzic and Mladic?   Please note Mladic and Karadzic are still at-large.

On a brighter side, Milosevic’s release is a signal that The Hague business is finally coming to an end.  At this time, the Croatian Government should immediately request General Gotovina’s indictment be dropped, along with those against Generals Cermak and Markac, and they all be immediately released  --- without any further delay.

The Croatian people overwhelmingly support and acknowledge General Gotovina is an innocent man who is unjustly accused and betrayed.  On the other hand, the Croatian government, this time with their silence and inaction, once again protects their main collaborator, Carla Del Ponte, and her impartial and unethical behavior of indicting innocent people.  General Gotovina is Croatia’s hero of independence from Communist Yugoslavia who stopped a wide-scale Serbian aggression.  These are undisputed facts.

Does demos in the so-called Croatian democracy have any weight in functioning democracies? How far can this mockery of “justice,” as in the case of the ICTY, continue?  This dangerous circus of “democracy” as with the case of the Croatian government begs the question: how far can they play in their circus they have created?  Is the Croatian government still trying to prove their “competence” in the world by emphasizing how they facilitated and coordinated General Gotovina’s capture?  How it is that no one in the international community has told them this is not how democracies operate in the western world.  We in the west, celebrate our independence days and our war heroes who brought us that very independence.  These celebrations have been practiced for centuries.  Hence, this farce of calling themselves a “democracy” is the very instance in which the Croatian government is trying to pull the wool over everyone’s eyes in the world.  Yes, they are a complete and utter farce of a “democratic” government while no one else seems to notice.  Why, we ask.

When the Rwanda Tribunal highlighted The Hague’s incompetence and demanded the transfer of trials from The Hague back to Rwanda, former Prime Minister Racan and his government worked diligently to support Carla Del Ponte’s survival.  Racan’s government was full of praise and glory for the work of the ICTY.  Racan’s government reaffirmed the Hague Tribunal’s raison d’être in the world. Racan’s philosophy was "Try Croatians since all others have declined."  Irrational, is it not?  If these men were to be tried in Croatia, the government would be directly responsible for this injustice.  The government prefers The Hague do their dirty work.  The Hague, and not trials in Zagreb, gives the government the excuse that Carla Del Ponte wants it this way.  Does she really?  What this comes down to is that the government is hiding from the public the extent of collaboration with Carla Del Ponte and its role in this injustice. The Hague is simply their excuse. To sum it up, this is the fruit of post-communist corruption in which Carla Del Ponte and the Croatian government support each other in power.

As a consequence, Croatians are harassed daily by The Hague because the European Union and the United Nations have deemed they must be there, face trial, all at the risk of destabilizing the entire Balkan region while stripping away basic democratic freedoms and rights.  Before Ivo Sanader became Prime Minister, he promised to change this trend of injustice towards Croatian Homeland war heroes.  He campaigned on the promise he would do just that and not allow any veterans to go to The Hague.  However, once he came to power, he betrayed Croatian heroes more duplicitously than anyone before him.  He was instrumental in creating a fully corrupt government which has transcended into Croatian society and affects each and every citizen on a daily basis. He maintains this systematic corruption via a purely tyrannical style of government. Sanader adds insult to injury when he questions the Croatian peoples’ own judgment, while he praises himself and his corrupt government’s success in capturing General Gotovina. That is his "foreign policy" no democracy in the world has ever seen! Of course, Sanader continues Racan’s tyrannical trends, only more effectively.

With Milosevic on his way to Moscow, Sanader will keep his collaborator Carla Del Ponte up and running and secure her position at The Hague.  The price is the freedom of an innocent man, and many others unjustly accused by her and the ICTY.  Sadly, the proud history of a people will be thrown back into a recycle bin without any real hope for a true freedom, democracy and justice.

Milosevic’s release for medical treatment clearly demonstrates to the world The Hague Tribunal is nothing more than a kangaroo court; while, the Croatian government is its kangaroo offspring.

The CWA holds both the ICTY and the Croatian government responsible for each day our innocent general is at The Hague prison. We pledge to bring them all to accountability should they ignore yet another request to take action against this immense injustice towards General Gotovina and the Croatian people.  If anyone is to be tried by a UN court, then it should be Carla Del Ponte and the Croatian government. This injustice cannot go on and General Gotovina’s indictment must be dropped and he released a free man.
